Department Overview:

• The Canada Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) Group is responsible for the detection, investigation, and reporting of potential money laundering and terrorist financing activities conducted through Bank. The various screening processes conducted by the Financial Crimes Name Screening Operations Team are a key element of the adjudication and escalation activities conducted by Canada FCRM to manage Bank’s anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing risk, sanctions, and compliance obligations. The Name Screening Operations team screens against various watchlists containing potential matches, and acts as the primary identification point in analyzing and escalating potential matches to watchlist individuals.
• As part of an ongoing transformation of the Name Screening Operations team, a new AML Escalations function is being established internal to the team, which will be responsible for evaluating and determining materiality of confirmed instances of Politically Exposed Persons, Money Services Businesses, and occurrences of Negative Media.

Job Description Summary:

• FCRM’s Screening Operations (Canada) Team conducts Politically Exposed Person (PEP), review of Adverse Media, Money Service Business (MSB) and screen Client customers and related parties in addition to various lines of business within Bank. The Level 2 Screening Team is responsible for making a risk assessment using the Bank Adverse Media Framework and to identify domestic and international PEP using the Bank Politically Exposed Person (PEP) Framework to determine a true PEP.

Depth & Scope:

• Experienced working in a professional role providing analysis, recommendations or processes/program support
• Requires experienced, conceptual, and practical knowledge within AML and ATF respective space and knowledge of broader related areas
• Accountable for own work and sometimes others; acts as an escalation point or knowledge resource for others in their own area
• Leads and takes initiative to improve work streams with moderate risk and may be accountable for ongoing activities, processes, and functional programs
• Works to comply within broad guidelines/policies and independently perform tasks from end to end
• Work performed under minimal management guidance and supervision and able to organize daily tasks to meet business objectives

Customer Accountabilities:

• Conducts analysis by collecting, assessing, and collating case file information for AML Financial Crime investigations
• Conducts data analysis and interpretation looking for patterns and anomalies

Shareholder Accountabilities:

• Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information, and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate
• Conducts reporting and/or meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, makes recommendations, assesses the effectiveness of programs/policies/practices
• Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures within own area of responsibility and keep abreast of emerging trends for own functional area
• Protects the interests of the organization – identifies and manages risks, and escalates non-standard, high-risk transactions/activities as necessary

Must-Have Hard Skills:

• 1+ years of AML experience (closer to 4 years is preferred)
• 1+ years of Adverse media experience
• Money Service Business (MSB)/Political Exposed Persons (PEP) knowledge
• Previous experience in screening/analyzing and understanding those processes

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong time management, priority management skills
• Attention to detail and someone who is a self-starter and adaptable
• Flexible and able to pivot from one task to another
• Willingness to learn and takes initiative

Nice-To-Have

• ACAMS certification
• Banking or financial institution experience
• Quantify/Open Source tool experience
