Business Analyst – Capital Markets & UNIX

Story Behind the Need:

• Business group: Global Capital Markets Technology: Support group treasury and funding, specifically Wallstreet application.
• Project: Hardware modernization – The candidate will be working on an operating system upgrade from Solaris to Linux along with an Oracle database upgrade.

Candidate Value Proposition:

• The candidate will have the opportunity to work with senior stakeholders along with be a part of a major upgrade of the banks platform.

Typical Day in Role:

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including business end users and upstream / downstream technology groups to gather comprehensive information related to problems, projects and requests
• Work closely with internal development resources as well as third-party vendor contacts to design and test creative and efficient solutions
• Actively participate in or lead team stand-ups and scrums to ensure broad awareness of in-flight initiatives and coordinate work efforts
• Manage functional and technical requests as well as bug investigations and discretionary work efforts using a variety of tools including JIRA, Confluence, and ServiceNow
• Periodically act as the team’s release coordinator to ensure Change Management processes and requirements are met in a timely manner
• Actively participate in improving team processes and workflows, with an emphasis on knowledge retention and intra / inter-team cooperation
• Working on Wallstreet Money Markets

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 2-3 years’ experience in Capital Markets (or 1-2 years in treasury and funding would be sufficient)
• Strong working knowledge of industry trends and regulations
• Strong functional knowledge of money market instruments and related technologies
• Strong understanding of trade lifecycle
• Must have exposure to Wallstreet systems (Money Markets is more niche, but would be an asset)
• Practical technology project experience, as either a business analyst (2+ years) or a project manager (nice to have if BA requirement is not satisfied)
• Strong experience writing queries in SQL
• Experience using UNIX in a professional capacity

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience working with regulators or regulatory reporting
• Wallstreet Money Markets experience

Soft Skills:

• Effective written and verbal communication skills to bridge between technical content and business objectives
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a broader technology group

Best vs Average:

• Ideal candidate would work on their own test pack and be able to operate independently and contribute to group discussion. Someone who assists and guides testing (e.g. can run a small group running down-stream interfaces) Familiarity running stand-ups/mini scrums. Would also have more BA experience and project management exposure.

Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required

Candidate Review & Selection:

• Structure and Format: Two 30 min video interviews – 1st with manager – 2nd with SME’s about technical and business functionality side.
