Role Overview:
• The Senior Data Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing data governance initiatives across our department. This position requires an analytical mindset, strong business acumen, and proficiency in presenting complex data insights to senior executives. The successful candidate will have a solid background in data governance within a financial setting and will work closely with diverse stakeholders to ensure data integrity, security, and usability align with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Data Governance Implementation:
o Lead the design, development, and enforcement of data governance standards, policies, and practices across the organization.
• Data Analysis & Reporting:
o Perform complex data analyses to support business decisions, highlighting trends, gaps, and opportunities within the data governance framework.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
o Collaborate with key stakeholders, including senior management and cross-functional teams, to understand data requirements, solve data-related issues, and drive governance best practices.
• Data Quality & Integrity:
o Ensure high data quality and integrity across multiple systems by identifying gaps, establishing metrics, and developing monitoring procedures.
• Documentation & Process Management:
o Develop and maintain documentation for data governance processes, data flows, and business rules.
• Risk & Compliance:
o Ensure data practices adhere to regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards, particularly relevant in the financial industry.
• Presentation & Communication:
o Prepare and deliver presentations on data governance initiatives, project progress, and data insights to senior executives, showcasing the value and impact of data governance on business objectives.
Qualifications:
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Business, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience:
o 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data analysis, ideally within the financial industry.
• Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Excel) and familiarity with data governance frameworks and platforms.
• Business Acumen:
o Demonstrated ability to align data governance initiatives with business strategy and drive organizational improvements.
• Presentation Skills:
o Strong ability to convey complex data insights to senior management and non-technical stakeholders, with clear and compelling presentations.
• Communication Skills:
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Knowledge of Regulatory Standards:
o Deep understanding of financial data regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, Basel, BCBS 239) is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience implementing data governance in a financial services setting.
• Certification in Data Governance (e.g., DAMA, DCAM) or Data Management is an asset.
• Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
