Story Behind the Need:

• Business Group: GTA – Global Technology Applications – The hiring group focuses on Compliance Engineering
• Project: The team is seeking two technical Business/Data Analysts that will be working on a solution for the trade surveillance ETL project.
• Reason for request: New resource requirements to support new work on project

Typical Day in Role:

• Lead discussions with various stakeholders across different teams (technology, compliance, trade desk, internal controls)
• Utilize understanding of the trade order lifecycle and order data (across OTC derivatives and listed products)
• Attending meetings to understand scope of the work
• Documentation and gather requirements from business units and translates those to programmers and developers
• Work with work with both technical and business resources, as well as respective leads with given workstreams
• Serves as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization in order to provide technical solutions to meet user needs
• Manage JIRA tickets
• Create and manage data mapping documents, test cases & testing of items developed
• Updating knowledge base
• Data reconciliation
• Create Elastic Search queries to determine data/ETL requirements for the project

Candidate Requirements/Must-Have skills:

• 8+ years as a Business Systems Analyst and/or Data Analyst with strong documentation and testing experience
• Recent 2-3 years of experience in Leading the team and good communication & stakeholder management
• 5+ years’ experience within Capital Markets:
o Ideally has experience across various asset classes (OTC derivatives, Fixed income etc.)
• Demonstrable experience independently communicating with various stakeholders (e.g. trade desk, vendors, technology teams, etc.)
• Candidate must be well-versed in ETL (to determine data/ETL requirements for the project)
• Previous Data Modeling experience – different types of schemas.

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Experience with Elasticsearch – commonly used engine for pulling data
• Experience with Python – Scripting, to access and manipulate data
• Trade surveillance experience

Soft Skills:

• Takes initiative on the tasks and be accountable
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently or with minimal direction
• Self starter
• Strong analytical skills

Best vs. Average:

• Candidates should have 5+ years’ experience within capital markets broadly.
• The best fit would have a strong understanding of the trade order lifecycle and order data (across OTC derivatives and listed products preferred)
• Team fit is also an important factor, as this is an ongoing project and the team would prefer to have contractors extended for up to two years (tenure).
• Communication skills are essential to successfully navigating this role. Note that Elastic Search experience is an asset but can also be learned on the job.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required

Candidate Review & Selection:

• One round interview – Hiring Manager & Business Analyst (30-45 mins)
• Possibility of second round interview
• The meeting will take place via MS teams, in-person interviews may be requested as well.
