Story Behind the Need:

• Business group: Canadian Wealth Management
• The provision of financial products and services to high-net-worth (HNW) clients.
• This role is critical to the team in bridging the gap between business needs and Dev Team.
• Project: TMX Post Trade Modernization – CDS Trade Reconciliation
• The current phase of the analysis is commencing – The rest of the project is in the executing phase 20+ workers involved.

Typical Day in Role:

• The Business Analyst role collaborates with stakeholders from various departments (Wealth Digital Transformation for SCORE, SONLINE, Brokerage, etc to gather requirements, conduct feasibility studies, and define project objectives.
• Analyzing business processes for SCORE, OMS, EOD/SOD
• They leverage their strong analytical skills to elicit, document, and prioritize business requirements, translating them into functional specifications for FLOSS development team.
• The Business Analyst actively participates in the development and testing phases, ensuring that the delivered solution aligns with the business requirements.
• Additionally, they provide ongoing support, conducting post-implementation reviews and recommending optimizations to maximize the value of the solution.
• Effective communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management are key competencies for success in this role.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of experience creating user stories and requirements
• 8+ years of BA experience on IT projects

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Jira experience is an asset
• Agile experience is an asset

Soft Skills Required:

• Excellent communications skills to coordinate with high ranking individuals internally (Sr Manager and Director level generally)
• Agile thinker to be quick on their feet
• Self-starter that actively engages issues seeking resolution, ability to meet dynamic changes on prioritization
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and expectations without direct instruction or oversight
• Fast, adaptable learner who can hit the ground running
• Ability to work well under pressure while demonstrating strong professionalism
• Strong investigation, prioritization, and organization skills
• Candidate must have an open mind when it comes to approach, and be able to assess each situation separately
• Must be able to collaborate closely with a team at times, while also being capable of holding themselves accountable to meet individual deadlines without hand holding

Education & Certificates:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Best VS. Average Candidate:

• The best candidate is someone who translates non-technical requirements to an IT-technical audience.
