Story Behind the Need:

• Business group: Project Delivery & Support
• Project: This Business Case is an integral part of GTS Stability Program that aims to enhance the Disaster Recovery (DR) capability in IBM Canadian Datacenters (CS2 Primary and CS4 Secondary sites).
• Reason for request: IBM-managed Canadian Datacenters CS2 (Gough Rd) and CS4 (Barrie) have not been able to execute a full Site Recovery Plan (SRP). Project has been created to ensure internal audits are completed with regards to a failover switch.

Candidate Value Proposition:

• The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on other projects based on their performance and engage with senior stakeholders.

Typical Day in Role:

• Develops, tracks and manages program budget, program plans, timelines and scope.
• Manage program resources including procuring program staff, developing, motivating, coaching and advising.
• Partner closely with other members of functional program teams to define business requirements.
• Lead teams of developers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs.
• Define test plans and ensure that products are defect free before User Acceptance Testing.
• Facilitate the User Acceptance Testing process, developing rollout plans and procedures.
• Prepare and present cost-benefit analyses.
• Ensure appropriate systems development and program management processes are being utilized.
• Make presentations to steering committees or program sponsors.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of experience with mainframe technology
• 10+ years of infrastructure background experience
• 10+ years of vendor management experience
• 10+ years of independently running steering committees
• 10+ years of experience with waterfall methodology
• 10+ years of experience with understanding and owning financials of their program
• 5+ years of data center failover experience
• 5+ years of application development manager experience

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Proven program management experience.
• People management and team building skills
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible/ adaptable in exercising judgment in a changing environment and to manage competing priorities.
• Proven ability to learn business processes quickly and to work well with business partners at different levels within the organization.
• Strong ability to assess risk and apply management principles to technology applications/products and business functions.

Soft Skills:

• Mature interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all types of professionals and foster working relationships
• Strong communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills used to communicate with various project stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization
• Come with ideas and have a strong input
• Be dynamic, take initiative, be a leader

Degrees or certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is required
