Story Behind The Need:

• Business Group: Project Delivery & Support
• Project: Project Delivery & Support is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager for Canadian Branch Support Line: Create more self-serve support for Canadian Branches, reducing idle time, increasing capacity to focus on top-line sales to drive revenue while reducing dependency on GO’s support teams.

Typical Day In Role:

• Support the Portfolio Director and/or Program Manager to ensure the business needs and outcomes of the project are defined, satisfied and costs identified while working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, process specialists, product managers, and others to onboard, plan, and execute engagements with the bank’s technology teams.
• Develop, track and manage project budget, project plans, timelines and scope
• Establish scope of the project; monitor and control scope to ensuring focus on delivery.
• Manage project resources including procuring project staff, developing, motivating, coaching and advising
• Identify resource requirements, set expectations, and manage stakeholders to enable efficient and effective achievement to project outcomes
• Partner closely with other members of functional teams to define business requirements
• Lead teams of developers in the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet business needs
• Define test plans and ensure that products are defect free before User Acceptance Testing Facilitate the User Acceptance Testing process, developing rollout plans and procedures
• Ensure appropriate systems development and project management processes are being utilized
• Make presentations to steering committees or project sponsors
• Manage the project budget by contributing to monthly forecasts, quarterly accruals, and year end carry forwards
• Leading discussions to make sure the appropriate items are addressed
• Consolidating various inputs from workstreams

Must Have Skills/Requirements:

• 10+ years of hands on experience as an IT Project Manager preferably within banking
• 7+ years of experience managing projects size of 5MM+ and handling financial responsibilities
• 5+ years of experience delivering projects in an agile / hybrid environment – candidate should have both agile and waterfall experience
• 5+ years of hands on experience in a technology development, engineering, or technology support role (candidate should be familiar with reading / writing code, able to work efficiently with all technology teams)

Nice To Have:

• Understanding of the banking technology funda
• Some knowledge of financial reporting and finance would be a huge asset
• Previous Big 5 bank experience – client experience highly preferred
• FI/Banking
• Experience with risk or compliance projects

Soft Skills:

• Self-starter that actively engages issues seeking resolution, ability to meet dynamic changes on prioritization
• Excellent communications skills to coordinate with high ranking individuals internally (Sr Manager and Director level generally)
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and expectations without direct instruction or oversight
• Fast, adaptable learner who can hit the ground running
• Ability to work well under pressure while demonstrating strong professionalism
• Strong investigation, prioritization, and organization skills
• Candidate must have an open mind when it comes to approach, and be able to assess each situation separately
• Must be able to collaborate closely with a team at times, while also being capable of holding themselves accountable to meet individual deadlines without hand holding

Education Or Certifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• PMP Certification is a must
• Scrum certifications

Interview/Selection Process:

• 2 Step Process: 1 interview with Hiring Manager (30 mins) & 1 with Tech team or Business Stakeholder (1 hour)
o 1st 30 minute Phone/Video Screen
o 2nd Interview with Director level individual

Additional Notes:

• Short-term contracts (3 months) seen as red flag)
• Experience must be hands on and recent
