Summary Of Day To Day Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Manager, Instructional Technology Development Manager, the Learning & Development Designer/Developer will design high quality, multi-approach blended learning and performance solutions on a variety of learning projects that support business strategic priorities, enable people strategies and impact key business measures
• This individual will also design and develop media, graphics and interactive web-based assets for innovative learning and performance solutions that strengthen employee capabilities and knowledge

Accountabilities:

• Design/ contribute to the design of learning and development programs, including instructional frameworks, content mapping, prototypes or drafts, narrative scripts and storyboards in various delivery methods
• Recommend the most effective blend of instructor–led, hands–on, and web–based learning to be used in a given solution
• Act as a subject matter expert with both practical and technical expertise in all areas of creative and graphic design, including online content design and paper based assets
• Assess and identify business requirements, scoping key design solutions, determining the end deliverables and resources necessary for each project
• Responsible for the overall development and authoring of online training solutions
• Participate in and contribute to project scoping and planning, setting the standards for the learner experience that will enable learning objectives to be satisfied
• Creation and revision of visual communications using a combination of typography, photography and illustration
• Interpret and develop what the learner sees in terms of graphics, formatting, animations etc. based on instructional design and subject matter expert input
• Creation of mood boards, prototypes, visual storyboards as well as templates for standard learning modalities
• Creatively develop all learning solutions (i.e., eLearning/simulations, online performance support tools, presentations, graphic rich deliverables, videos, eBooks, etc.) to be visually engaging while also in alignment with client Brand standards and guidelines
• Ensure learner accessibility and principles of diversity and inclusion in developing all learning solutions
• Work directly with Course Owner, Instructional Designer and subject matter experts to capture course-specific knowledge
• Provide expertise on overall program design and development, including recommendations for optimal effectiveness and innovation
• Involved in a range of projects where expertise includes work that addresses all learning capacities and provides materials and activities developed for different learning preferences
• Act as Lead Developer, overseeing creation of deliverables by external developers and/or vendors on projects as assigned
• Contribute to the success of the team by willingly assisting others in the completion and performance of work activities; provide training, coaching and/or guidance as appropriate

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

• Minimum of 5+ years of instructional design/development experience is required
• Expert level knowledge of eLearning development using Articulate Storyline 3 or 360 is required
• Strong creative and graphic design skills are required
• Expert level knowledge of PowerPoint, Word and experience with other Microsoft Office applications (I.E. Excel, Outlook, Word) is required
• Proficient knowledge of learning and performance enablement solutions, program design, design inputs for program evaluation, learning consultation, needs analysis, learning instructional design and content design analysis is required
• Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and testing using Freedom Scientific JAWS Screen Reader
• Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to senior leadership
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
• Ability to think strategically and possess strong business acumen
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form

Specific Educational Requirements/Accreditations:

• Post graduate education in Adult Learning & Development is preferred
• Experience with Adobe Connect, WebEx, MS Teams and other virtual learning tools is preferred
• Experience with Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, GoAnimate/Vyond and other video production tools is an asset
• Experience with of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other graphic design components within the Adobe Creative Cloud product suite is an asset
• Relevant Adult Learning & Development certification/degree is an asset.
• Certification in Instructional Technology/Human Performance Technology is an asset
• Relevant Creative and Graphic Arts certification/degree is an asset
