Reporting to the Vice-President, People, the Learning Consultant will standup the training function for the organization. The Learning Consultant will develop the learning strategy for the organization, lead and develop and/or curate engaging, innovative and on-demand digital and instructor led learning solutions that will drive the development and performance of the client team while supporting the mission, vision and strategic initiatives of the organization. Areas of focus will be on driving innovation, developing technology fluency and building the workforce of the future for the employees at client.

Key Accountabilities:

• Own strategic direction and execution in standing up a general training function for the organization supporting all business units
• Develop learning strategy for the organization focused on developing both future workforce capabilities and skills to ensure success in current roles
• Conduct comprehensive learning needs analyses and develop training strategies to enable delivery of detailed learning recommendations
• Researches, recommends, designs and develops integrated, comprehensive learning solutions based on analysis and assessment of HR and internal client initiatives and learner needs, with a focus on both change-management and sustainment outcomes
• Work closely with business leaders and key stakeholders to design and deliver timely, high quality, interactive, audience-appropriate training solutions that align with business objectives
• Plan, develop, launch and oversee overall training programs including identifying and managing tasks, deliverables, timelines, critical success factors, track resources, work effort, budget and escalating issues where appropriate
• Manage and partner with training vendors, instructional designers and facilitators to ensure development deliverables are in line with overall project objectives and adhere to adult learning principles and contemporary learning styles
• Measure, track, manage, and report results of all learning solutions to leadership and stakeholders to demonstrate business impact and effectiveness and provide recommendations to elevate the learner’s experience and better achieve business objectives
• Act as thought leader for learning, remain current on emerging adult learning trends and apply best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
• Support and enhance client’s brand and culture by maintaining high personal and professional standards for all activities and deliverables
• Facilitate virtual / in-person training sessions when required

Skills & Experience:

• Provide deep subject matter with minimum 5 years’ experience in learning consulting or previous L&D experience in needs analysis, design, learning consulting and program evaluation & measurement, including knowledge of external best practices, emerging trends, and vendors; maintain best practices in areas of design and learning consulting; stay current in program evaluation and measurement
• Proven experience and knowledge with digital training delivery is a must
• Demonstrated and comprehensive knowledge the principles of adult learning
• Experience in building skills / capabilities to support workforce of the future, including digital fluency and understanding of emerging technologies
• Demonstrated business acumen and organizational awareness, change management leadership, good judgment and decision making
• Strong project management skills with the ability to independently manage multiple projects and execute on deliverables on time and on budget with high attention to detail
• Analytical thinker with ability to think critically, solve problems and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced demanding environment with multiple priorities
• Strong leadership skills and ability to impact / influence and build consensus among multiple stakeholder groups
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate with business partners, senior management and executive audiences (verbal and written)
• Flexibility to adapt quickly and change priorities as required to changing requirements
• Foster and contribute to a positive, inclusive and constructive work environment
• Experience designing and delivering training in a corporate environment and managing organization-wide programs
• Technology curious mindset with a strong knowledge of MS Office software applications

Required education and/or accreditation:

• University Degree in Human Resources preferred
• A relevant Learning & Development designation or Certification/degree would be an asset
