Story Behind the Need

• Business Group: The Day to Day Banking, Pricing and Lending Technology team is seeking a mainframe developer to join their team, assisting with multiple concurrent projects and supporting additional needs internally. With the influx of project work, the very lean core group of fulltime staff is unable to meet the current demands hence the addition of 2 mainframe developers.

Typical Day in Role:

• Design, code, test, document, implement, and maintain application programs and interfaces
• Devise or modify procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results
• Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications
• Monitor systems capacity and performance, plan and execute disaster recovery procedures, and provide technical support
• Identify, escalate and document production impact issues
• Evaluate user requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility, cost, time required and compatibility with current systems and capabilities
• Doing not only project work, but also production issues that happen to come up
• Primary purpose to work on projects –
• assist with initial analysis of designs

Must Have Skills/Requirements:

• 5+ years experience as a mainframe developer
• 5+ years experience with COBOL, Assembler, DB2, and JCL or other mainframe tools and utilities such as MVS, SAS, Sort, Endeavor
• 5+ years of experience working in the following: IBM, z/os, Mainframe, TSO
• Recent experience in IMS, DB2 – 2-3 recent projects
• Recent experience using software tools SORT, COMPAREX, UCANDU, BTS – 2-3 recent projects

Nice to Have Skills:

• Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue
• Knowledge of computer hardware and software
• Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles

Soft Skills:

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage one’s time

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or a related field required
