Power BI Developer

Story Behind the Need:

• Business group: GTB Customer Insights Data & Analytics
• Project: Payment Modernization
• The selected candidate will be a member of Global Transaction Banking team reporting to Director, Business Intelligence and Insights, GTB Analytics.
• Incumbent contributes to the overall success of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) by performing and overseeing its data, business intelligence and analytics strategy for GTB footprint across North America. This includes ownership and oversight for payments insights, scorecards, reporting and data models. The role is highly technical and requires expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Power Platform and Azure Databricks along with data practices and analytical methodologies.
• Incumbent possesses strong technical, financial and analytical skills as well as the ability to communicate to a broad audience including client executives. The incumbent also possesses leadership skills as well strong knowledge of GTB products, services and operations.

Typical Day in Role:

• Reporting and Insights:
o Lead data and analytical workstreams and on-going initiatives in collaboration with GTB Payments Transformation, technology and product teams
o Own end to end future-state report development which serve as the primary portal and one-stop shop for all GTB payments operations to access self-serve dashboards, insights, scorecards and more
o Partner with business teams across North America footprint to gather requirements, understand current ecosystems, ideate and visualize the target state views for the business
o Help build end to end data pipelines and lineage to enable sustainable reporting from modernized data ecosystem
o Work closely with Enterprise Data Lake technology partners to build a robust data infrastructure for catering reporting use cases
o Create an impact by providing solid analytics and insights to Payment Modernization, Product, Correspondent Banking and Operations teams in order to drive efficiency, execute against migration mandates, improve the customer experience and protect the Bank
o Identify, prioritize, analyze, remediate, and escalate data and reporting issues.
o Create process flows, user guides, migration documents and testing results related documents.
o Ensure accuracy, governance, and access control on BI ecosystem
o Where material gaps in capabilities versus requirements exist, the incumbent will either directly or indirectly drive efforts to resolve same.
o Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary as well as a good knowledge of the Bank’s operational and compliance policies, practices, and procedures.
• Innovation and Centre of Excellence:
o Champions the launch of new technology solutions to the team – focusing on BI and analytics engineering domains
o Act as a centre of excellence for GTB business, Product as well as Payment analytics, acting their own trusted advisors for everything related to data analytics
o Ideate and innovate the best-in-class automation and reporting tools to support sales, payments and product teams in portfolio management
• Training and Communication:
o Lead training sessions with business stakeholders on new feature launches and updates
o Provide training sessions to analytics team on new technical enhancements on BI platform and data platform
• Relationship Management:
o Work in alignment with the GBM Client Insights and Analytics, GBM Analytics Execution, Small Business Analytics as well as Commercial Banking Analytics and Business Planning teams.
o Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

• 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or insights roles, or related fields (some experience within Canadian Banking)
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform
• Solid understanding of ETL processes, data mining, profiling, cleansing and enrichment
• Strong analytical skills to identify and evaluate unusual numbers and trends
• Strong proficiency with Excel and other MS products

Nice-To-Have Skills:

• Master’s degree or MBA
• Experience with Azure Databricks, GCP
• Previous experience working on large-scale transformational projects

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics computer science, finance, or related field

• The focus will be on ability to analyze data and familiarity with the banking industry.

• 2 rounds
• 1st round – HM – 30 mins – MS Teams Video (cultural/personality fit, meet and greet, overview of experience)
• 2nd round – panel (Data analytics engineers, product lab) – 45 mins – in-person (behavioural/situational)
• 3rd round – VP – 30 mins – MS teams Video (to make final decision)
